Health Policy and Management (HPM)
The Directorate offers policy analysis and supports the use of high-quality evidence to support decision making. The Department offers a range of services from policy dialogue to knowledge translation products. Specific roles include:
- Analysis of political and economic aspects that determine health policy choices
- Dialogue with national and international policy makers and implementing agencies
- Research publication, dissemination, and communication
- Identification, access, assessment, interpretation, and translation of research evidence into local policy and practice
- Building capacity in the practice of KT and advance KT science
- Start-to-finish development of resources such as printed education materials, decision aids, and smartphone apps tailored for end users (patients, public, health care providers, policy makers)
- Rigorous usability of KT tools
- Technical assistance and implementation coaching to support execution of KT implementation plans
- Hosting workshops, webinars for stakeholders interested in specific KT topics
Project Management and Health Systems Strengthening
The Directorate offers full spectrum of services aimed at health system strengthening which involves the development of base, mid and end line reviews of health sector strategic documents. The directorate also
offers capacity building programs in health economics and public health in the following areas: Human Resource for Health, Health Care Financing,
Information, Governance and Health Service Delivery. Specific roles include:
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Health Care Financing
- Developing multiple conceptual frameworks, strategic approaches to HSS
- Designing high-impact interventions and measuring performance of HSS programs
- Global health funding architecture, partnership mechanisms and technical support mechanisms
- Building capacity of health workers in Health Economics and Health Care Financing
